Greensboro Oyster Roast

We are very pleased to announce the 19th Annual Greensboro Oyster Roast will be back in person in 2022 in support of Greensboro programs of Family Service of the Piedmont and we can’t wait to see you! The 2022 Oyster Roast will take place on Friday, April 29, 2022 at the home of Liz and David Johnson in Greensboro.

For almost two decades, the Oyster Roast has become firmly established on Greensboro’s social calendar and has earned a reputation as one of the preeminent fundraisers in our community. Last year’s Restoring Hope Campaign raised $311,000 to support programs for Greensboro children and families in crisis. The Oyster Roast is an outdoor, casual chic affair with live music, oysters and a dinner buffet served by Pepper Moon Catering, along with beer and wine, and southern sides and desserts. Major sponsors ($2,500 and above) are invited to attend a pre-event cocktail party “Pearls of the Oyster Roast” immediately preceding the main event.

The Oyster Roast looked a bit different in 2021.  In an effort to continue to raise funds to support the work of Family Service we are launched a campaign entitled: Greensboro Oyster Roast – Restoring Hope which culminated with a Drive Thru Appreciation Event held Friday, April 30, 2021 at St. Pius X Catholic School.  All Sponsors and hosts were able to drive-thru and pick-up an Oyster Roast Party Pack, which included a Shrimp Boil dinner and dessert.

WHY COMMUNITY SUPPORT IS NEEDED MORE THAN EVER
Providing a lifeline to the community’s most vulnerable, Family Service of the Piedmont helps children and families overcome child abuse and domestic violence, improve their mental health and gain financial stability, issues that have worsened due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Family Service is focused on providing services and support to families dealing with the challenges that come with increased social isolation and economic struggle so that they may be safe at home and in the community.

  • Our children’s advocacy centers have seen an increase in forensic interviews in the investigation of child abuse, as children get back to schools and day cares and are in safe environments to disclose abuse to authorities.
  • Families in our Healthy Start program have not been able to have consistent in-person contact with our caseworkers, and our staff have not been able to adequately assess the safety of clents’ homes, and the risks of child abuse, neglect, and partner abuse.

Sponsors will recognized on the invitation (mailed to 2,500 homes in the Greensboro area), on signage at the event, on the Family Service website, and on Family Service social media channels. Sponsors will also be recognized in the Family Service newsletter, mailed to 5,000 individuals, businesses and organizations throughout Guilford County. Top sponsors will be acknowledged in pre-and-post event media coverage.

We hope you will consider supporting the 2022 Greensboro Oyster Roast to help fund local programs of Family Service of the Piedmont in Greensboro.
